Students learn critical aspects and demands for being an FTO through the development of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities in a Field Training and Evaluation Program to successfully train new hire and lateral officers.

Students participate in open discussion, practical exercises, and are required to evaluate and document a trainee's behavior and performance on several DORs throughout the class and pass a written exam to receive a certificate of completion.
